Isn't Apple considered a monopoly since you have to buy there computer to get OSX? I just think way back when the gov't went after microsoft for being a monopoly and it makes more sense that apple is. Thought's?
I have heard of people of putting OSX on a few pc's with a lot of work but is that actually illegal?Good point i think they are there the only company i know off that forbids users using OSX on PCs

no its illegal to use it but it is wrong
g4m3rof1337 you have some what of a point but then most games are released as all platforms
Not yet/ever. Between the two, the PC has more of a gaming library, which is why the PC is the platform of choice, opposed to Apple. Apple has some games, which can be found here, http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_mac/software/games?mco=MjQyMTExNw.
Sure, there may be a few games on there, but not as much as the PC has to offer. But the Mac platform is more graphic design friendly, so I've heard, so it comes down to personal preference.
A monopoly would be something like.. Comcast owning all the cable lines in a town, so other cable companies can't offer their services there.
they own all of one software and wont allow any one to use it is that not a monopoly?
No because they are plenty of alternatives. A monopoly would have to restrict the market so much that it would not be feasible to use any other product.

Great point's guys, one question. When microsoft was being accused as a monopoly apple and linux both existed so what grounds did our gov't have to try and attack them, does anyone remember what I am talking about?
id love to see itThat was because Microsoft was bundling everything with Windows - Media Player, Movie Maker, Internet Explorer, Works, Outlook Express etc. So you could get a computer and not have to buy any software other than free Microsoft software.
If Linux had 95% of the market share then the same would have been accused of them (with Open Office etc.)
I did a uni project on this once (comparing IT companies) and found out that all of the bundled software is a HUGE loss for Microsoft - billions - but it is worth it as it stops people spending money at different companies - companies can't develop software - companies go broke etc. World domination and all that (if your into that kinda thing!).
That make sense...?? Doug.
PS If anyone is interested I will upload the report on Microsoft...
id love to see it
It's like saying Coke is better than Pepsi..
