Apple User to Switch Back to PC

Hello, I've been using Apple for several years now. I'm very good with computers, I write code, and the whole nine yards. However, I've noticed Apple's been on a downslide. I can't play the Windows Media files, which are now all over the internet, such as on Gamespot. Some of the software is downright buggy, and rosetta sucks. Many of my devices don't connect to my machine, and networking, forget it. I've used Xp before, right when it came out, then I moved to mac shortly thereafter. Now looking at Xp harder, I think I should switch, and Vista looks even better. I'm thinking of ditchin OS X for xp, and eventually vista. I read all the req. for Vista so I know what HW I want. My only question is, should I come back to the PC world?
 
Yes you should, especially if your having lots of compatibility issues with your hardware. Mac's are fine for people who do basic tasks or only use a few programs. But if you use a wide variety of programs, your going to run into issues on a Mac.

Hardware is also much cheaper for PC's than Mac's.
 
Yea, so everyone has told me. Apperature is no substutute for PSCS, and I have to wait longer for the new intel version, as my PPC was old, and I can't go for an expensive G5 Powermac, when it'll soon get distcontinued. It seems the only decent things I find are apple, and they even don't work that well. Looking at windows, I see an opportunity of apps, and I can get them cheaper. Not to mention, I don't have to get specific (overpriced) hardware, for every accessory. Well, one or two more suggestions and I'm off to the store.
 
MaximumPC just had an article on that, they compared Intel Mac's OS X to Windows XP. ANd the same programs ran up to 60% faster on Windows than they did on the Mac's, using the same Mac hardware.
 
Kinda funny, one of my buddys came over yesterday and wants me to get XP on his new Mac with bootcamp, took 15 minutes to get a straight face again!
 
I thought Macs were good for editing programs such as photoshop, and macromedia and what have you, and thats it.
 
If you get a PowerMac G5, they are awesome for audio recording...

PC's will always own the computer sales until OS X begin to allow people to install it on regular x86 PC's (it can already be done, but not in a user-friendly way ;)).

You should download a program from Apple called BootCamp, then, buy a copy of XP. BootCamp will allow you to dual boot XP and OS X.

Bootcamp only works on Intel Macs

Actually, recent tests of these applications show that they perform better on the Windows platform.
 
IMO, I still think it's a good idea he switched back. Windows is faster, not to mention whatever he bought, couldn't be matched power wise on a mac for even the same price. Macs are overpriced for hardware that is truely nothing special, or any better than PC hardware. The OS is pointless as well, it's unix limited to a GUI. To me it's locked up and "dummified". Not to mention gaming is slower, even on the same intel hardware. If I want an *nix system to run services and the like, I'll take linux, if I want to game, or run commercial productivity softwares I'll take Windows. What does that leave for Mac OS? Nothing, it's a want to be everything OS, but to me it falls short. I see no reason to ever touch a mac as a primary operating system.
