AR9285 connectivity issues

Hi all,

I've been having connectivity issues with my notebook, which has an Athero AR9285 installed. To be able to connect to any network, i need to uninstall and reinstall the driver every time the computer is restarted or wakes up from sleep/hibernation.

I had thought that the wireless card needs to be replaced, but then thought that considering it will work when the driver is re-installed the problem most likely lies with software rather than hardware.

Has anyone else has this issue, or is anyone aware of a fix for this?

I've had nothing but trouble with Atheros based wifi cards. I'd trash it and find another brand with different drivers
 
Which brand/model are you using now? As long as it's 802.11n compliant i'm willing to try it..
 
No, I've been using the device manager to uninstall/reinstall/update the driver, but it does say that the driver was provided by Atheros, version number 9.2.0.427.

I've not been able to find the driver for this model on the Qualcomm Atheros website; it looks like the only available drivers are for the 81xx series.
 
Ahh - i've only been looking at the Qualcomm Atheros website, not the unofficial ones. I found the latest driver (10.0.0.251) on that Czech website you linked to, but it's still having the same issue.

It is effectively forgetting how to search for and identify networks. It acknowledges that there is a wifi card, but doesn't seem to know how to use it until the drivers are reinstalled.
 
With sleep and hibernation, there is usually some driver issues but usually not with shutdown and restart. Have you tried just deleting your wireless connection and resetting it back up making sure the security key is correct?
 
All of the previously known networks were deleted when the driver was first reinstalled, and i've been using the QSS button on the router to reconnect to my home network each time i restart.

It remembers the details of my home network when I restart, but for some reason it can't find it to connect to until the drivers are reinstalled - at which point the previously known networks are again deleted.
 
I'm not sure if a fresh install of windows will solve this or not. You can try totally uninstalling the driver and software from add/remove programs and then reboot and then try reinstalling the driver and see what happens. Or you may be forced to get a different wireless adapter.
 
I deleted and reinstalled the software when this first started happening, so the next step would be to do a clean install of the OS.
