Upon graduation, I plan to work for the California Department of Finance. A position there (after two years) will give me the experience necessary to gain a position with a big corporate accounting firm. Will I like it? I hope so. Academically, I've done very well. Real world business, however, is much different than school. We'll see... EDIT: Yes, we have severly jacked this thread. Sorry. I'm sorta full of myself.

Haha, no problem with the hi jacked thread, I'll just hi jack it back! But yah, it's a G0 stepping processor, so hopefully that'll give me some room to play around with.
I'll be getting that and the arctic cooler freezer 7 tomorrow via fedex and found out that the arctic has pre applied thermal paste. Would I have to apply thermal paste to the actual processor too? Or is the paste on the cooler enough?

no just the paste on the cooler is enough, unless you wanted AS5 but what come with it is fine. If you happen to change the paste you must clean off the heatsink and cpu, and the apply it to the top of the cpu. The G0 stepping is the best so im thinking on air you should be about to get 3.4-3.6 with a little voltage increase. But i would start off little at a time untill you get the hang of it. Also when over clocking it will also over clock your ram, so i would set to to a "1:1" ratio or if its DDR2 800 set it to 667 in bios because when you overclock it will even out to ~800.. sorry if i sound a bit confusing

Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz (G0 Stepping)
MSI 8800 Ultra
4 Gigs of Corsair XMS2
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7
Currently I have a CPU temp of 25 degrees at idle, which I think is pretty good. In the bios (Gigabyte P35 Mobo) I have an FSB at 266 and the DDR2 is of course at 800. My multiplier is currently at 9 too. The voltage is currently set to AUTO, but my question is this...
I'd like to achieve about 3.2 Ghz. How should I go about doing this? Thanks in advance! My first overclock as well!

Set the VCore (voltage) to 1.375. It seems high, but you'll be okay. Set the FSB between 355-360. If you boot into Windows, and everything looks good, run Prime 95. Run this program for several hours. If your temps stay below 65C, and you don't receive any errors, you can increase the FSB, or begin lowering the VCore. If you don't successfully enter Windows, set the voltage higher. You can safely go as high as 1.4.

Yes. Above 70C is too high, IMO. Start @ 360 FSB. Let Prime95 run overnight. Some people recommend 24 hours. If you don't receive any errors, continue to increase the FSB until the CPU is unstable. Then lower the FSB a little bit. This is not a quick process. I've had my Q6600 since August and I'm still trying to find the right OC setting.
