Are custom made desktops cheaper?

i'm having a same question also....is it we build own computer is cheaper comparing u buy done made computer?
 
You can definitely build one cheaper than alienware. but, even if it ends up being the same price(it won't), you still get much higher quality.
 
You definitely get more bang for your buck if you shop around for good deals. You can also save some bucks on certain components and then re-budget for maybe a better component somewhere else.
 
Yes. If you compare to alienware, you are overpay!!!

IMO, if you after low end desktop for office use, e.g. $400 - 500. You probably find they are cheaper to buy from shelf. Otherwise, build it up yourself would usually be cheaper.
 
For mid-ranged and higher end systems, I would say yes, it is usually much cheaper to build your own. You also get to choose higher quality components and get only what you want, so you aren't paying for anything that you won't use. However, for low-end machines typically it's cheaper to buy one pre-built, especially if you need to buy an OS.
