Are Dells Desktops any good?

I know this may sound a bit silly, but how good are Dell desktops in terms of build quality, customer service etc? Obviously custom built pcs are of much higher quality, but in terms of prebuilt which brand is the best (ie Acer, Dell, HP, Asus, Gateway)

in term of best quality, i would say, from personal experience, ASUS is the best, then HP, then dell. gateway and acer are ok. emachines are of horrible quality
 
IMO, eMachines have always been reliable to me. On the other hand, Dells crash. Gateway and HP are pretty good. This should be a pole...
