Are DVD movies DVD ROM?

remember

I know this is for computers, but I dont know where else to find out.

I was going to buy a "Samsung VR-330 Multiformat DVD Recorder and VCR Combo" on ebay,

but when I read the user manual from the Samsung website
http://www.samsung.com/support/prod...SSI=/include/SSI/us_right/RMenu_DVDPlayer.sec

it says, on page 5, "Do not use the following dsics!

"LD, CD-G, CD-I, CD-ROM and DVD-ROM discs should
not be used in this product."

I always thought that DVD movies are DVD-ROM discs. It says so here. http://www.ahinc.com/dvd.html

"DVD-ROM
Can only be used for reading.
Movies you buy or rent are usually DVD-ROM."

Does this all mean that this seemingly nice DVD/VCR combo recorder can not play DVD movies? I'm so confused by this. And the user manual is 99 pages. Any help please?

I think it means dont use those disks for recording. It will play them fine. I dont think they sell dvd-roms for recording home movies anyway. Just get dvd-r or dvd-rw for recording.

:)

Sounds good

for my sake, I hope your right. It looked like a really good machine, as it plays nearly all formats R,RW+ and R,RW- and even DVD RAM, and found it quite hard to believe that it wouldn't play DVD-ROM's, aka, DVD movies, but then again, the Sony Blu-ray burner has a similar very demanding situation and even much worse.

Well, hopefully its a good machine and I'll get it.
