Are my specs good for gaming?

Welcome to the forum..

A bunch of it looks good, but the 2GB gtx960 is gonna hold you back a bit.

Also, have you considered ordering parts from a retailer like http://www.newegg.com and building it yourself. You'll get much better bang for buck and have the satisfaction of creating something personal for yourself!

I'm guessing that's the graphics card...what would be a better one. I'm trying to stick to this one website so which one from said website do you think is better?

Yup, indeed I'm referring to the graphics card.

Your gonna want a card that is at least 4GB, and obviously budget consideration is always important but a 4GB GTX970 or higher is gonna be better on the Nvidia side, and you could also look at the 300-series from AMD...such as a R9 380.

Are you shopping out of the USA?

The new 1000-series Nvidia was just launched this evening for a June store release, but I'm imagining the price will be pretty crazy. As well, AMD 400-series will be launched soon with a, most likely, smaller price tag but presumed great specs.

So, if you wish to shop from one site, as you posted above- are there options to switch to a 970, 980...etc or a R9 380, R9 390..etc? any of those is gonna be better than the 2GB variant of the 960

Also, my opinion on the SSD choice would be to grab a 250GB Samsung EVO over the ADATA unit.

That build is pretty good, but as stated maybe a bit inflated on price for what you get. You would get better gaming performance say dropping to an i5 and putting the difference into a 970 or 390 instead of the 960 for video. Also, as stated the next generation of video cards is coming out pretty soon.

Something like this as an example would save you a chunk of change and offer more FPS:

@beers speaks the truth.. an i5 is a stellar choice, great performance, and with the money saved you get to boost that graphics capability!!

Also, that revised build has a better motherboard choice.

I still think a Samsung SSD over the ADATA unit would be a smart move too!!

The reason why it costs $1700 b/c of all the razer accessories. I thought that i7 was better than the i5, should I wait until a new processor comes out?

I like to have duel on the hard drive and the SSD

i7 is too much money... the i5 6th gen is a rock solid performer and significantly cheaper!!! If you wait for next line of CPU, you'll be paying top dollar for little to no performance gain!

Yup, I totally agree SSD for O/S and programs + HDD for storage is great.. I'm just recommending a Samsung EVO over the ADATA for the SSD choice!!

Side question.. have you thought about purchasing the parts needed (we can help) and then assembling it yourself? If you have done this, it okay..just looking at all options for you

Not yet, I'm still deciding if the desktop is good enough to game. I'm looking for a good experience. I always like to research

For me it's a computer that I won't change for a while, and I've always learned when you have to buy something that lasts for a while you have to get the best, b/c then you're stuck with it! ;)

True to a point.. but spend money wisely too :)

Forking out wads of hard earned cash on top-priced everything isn't necessarily the best course of action!!

That's why I'm tying to figure out, if it's worth the money I'll buy it. You know? I'm still trying to figure out which graphics card I should get...

I feel you on that!

As for GPU... these would be most common options from Nvidia and AMD

Nvidia GTX970, GTX980, GTX980Ti

AMD R9 380, R9 390, R9 390X
