Prices fluxuate often with any vendor. One week you will see something at one price and next it will drop $50. They often drop prices a little when something isn't selling fast enough and then raise them back up a little later on simply for keeping them instock.
The week after buying the cpu used in the build here a good price drop was seen. The prices on the memory and board went down later. The 900 I got onsale while card is still up there as well as the supply.
That still would have seen the overall cost come down closer to $200 less. The cpu price probably dropped so they could see a few more sell fast. The initial prices are high to later see prices actually drop on anything new.
it all depends on if they are making a lot of sales, they sell a lot then raise the price because its in high demand and people will pay that extra 10 bucks to get it, and it adds up, since they raise the price some people stop buying, so they lower the price again. its a vicious cycle my friend, and its called Retail.
I know that one all too well! newegg dropped the price on the 6000+ X2 from $229.99 down to $169.99 where it has remained since the week after I ordered it for the current build last summer. They must have saying "anyone else?".
