There seems to be a shortage of new in box Nvidia chipset 775,sli,ddr2 mobo's on the market. Am I missing something here? Is there an alternative to NVidia chipsets on newer boards for SLI now?
Here's what I'm working with; P4/540 cpu, 3Gb pc6400 ddr2, twin 1Gb GeForce 9500GT pci-e video cards. I'm trying to upgrade but I'm not ready to make the jump to (Core i) yet. I was thinking that Asus striker 2 Formula would be a nice improvement and I could add a (Quad core EE) later but there is nothing out there for sale. Any thoughts, advice or suggestons would be greatly appreciated.

why not look at the lga1156 platform?

i was stuck in the same predicament as you and when i looked at the cost of componants i realised all it would take was a little extra time to save up.

i3 540 new would cost a little more than a q6600 second hand and performs better.

fair enough if you find a mobo/quad cheap but they usually are close to newer i3 - i5 prices
