Backing up today's multi GB & TB drives using CDs or DVDs is a labor intensive process. I find it much better to use an external HDD for backups. With HDD cost per GB so low it's a very attractive alternative. With appropriate software, backups can be totally automated and scheduled to run while you sleep.
