Are the new 5XXX going to use less energy?

I'm guessing these news chips are going to be more energy efficient than the old ones? the reason i'm asking is ive held of buying something like a 4890 for ages now because it would mean having to upgrade my psu aswell but i'm hoping that say a 5850 is going to use less energy than a 4850 meaning that i can keep my current psu.
 
i'd spend the money on the psu first. Running it near it's limit wears it down fast. They aren't even that expensive anymore. And i think you'd benefit more with another 2gb of memory.
 
I dont think my psu is particually stressed its only half a year or so old anyway theres loads of life in it yet im sure.
I would like 4gb of ram but im stuck with xp 32bit:( so it would be a bit pointless really.
