Are the new 8800GTS's (320mb v.) Vista ready?

Yes they are completely Vista and DX10 compatible. The problems you are hearing are probably from the previous BETA drivers.
 
Yeah, I can't imagine these being any worse than the 640MB version? Especially just doing stuff in Vista(non-gaming and all) But even in games, I wonder how much of a difference the extra 320MB RAM makes...
