Are windows 98 and USB2.0 compatible?

I was disassembling and old Windows 98 PC, and found a 5 port USB2.0 board, in a PCI slot... i haven't started the computer yet, and it's mouse works with a serial port, and the keyboard is a sort of HUGE PS2 connector...
i do intend to put linux in there and use it for something but since i don't have this keyboard, and have an extra usb keyboard...

usb 2 is not supported on 98se, i guess you could try it... whats the worst that can happen.

That big ps/2 connector is called a DIN an older name for ps/2 was mini din.

Short answer: Yes, Windows 98 (SE only) and USB 2.0 are compatible.

Drivers for Hi-Speed USB 2.0 hardware are supplied by the manufacturer of the device, however, and not Windows98. You should also be able get that USB 2.0 card working just fine within Linux.

I got two free desktops, one XP professional, the other 98
i'm still trying to choose between linux, or XP, since the programs i intend to use run better in windows for what i've been told.

make the 98 box into a firewall or something and load linux on it, like smoothwall.
