Are you scared to play action games at night?

I do like action games sush as Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 (the number of the part of the games really doesn't matter), but I'm completely can not play this games at nights alone particularly with my headphones covered my ears. The most I can is to play such games with sound turned off at all :) It's not so scary in this way.
I remember a moment in Doom III then a monster appeared suddently in the WC when I was looking at the mirror. I thought I would get a heart attack at that moment :D Since I decided not to play horror games such as Doom or Silent Hill with sound turned on :) though I'd love to.
Do you have a problem of that kind? What computer games you would not play alone in the night with your headphones on?

no i ain't scared, am not much of a gamer but i remember playing unreal 2004 ways back (well i thought i was in a safe hiding place) until someone suddenly bombed me, i freaked out. and oh Silent Hill 4 also gave me the creeps on xbox.
but to be honest games that really scared the hell out of me was Silent hill 1 (ps1) Resident evil 2 and 3 (ps1).
couldn't even sleep at night

Doom 3 and RE were the only games what gave me the willies when playing at night. I could with the sound off though, like you, it wasn't nearly as scary that way.

Nothing really these days though. I'm waiting for a new game to make me sh!t my pants when darkness falls..

I would never play Silent Hill again. No way. It can scare me to death :D
Another horrid game I played many years ago was 'Aliens vs Predator' escpecially if you play for marine corps

:D
What is the most horrifying moment you had playing Doom 3?

i only hate scary movies
I'm trying not to watch scary movies at all. I'm taking a care about my nerves :)
When I play a game I get the feel of computer game character role - that my problem is. I know some people (esp girls) don't give a damn about it :D They don't scare horror games because they don't feel themself and computer character to be the same. (I hoped you understand what I wanted to say :))

i understand, your saying we get WAY too engrossed in games rofl well, im good with scary games, its all about your mindset really, if your just waiting for that damn monster to rush around the corner and own you, when it finally does your done for. if your in the mindset to throw a frag grenade, jump back, change to your pistol, unload on his head, then finish him off with a burst from your BR, then your GTG

Yeah, exactly :)

Well, I'd rather say it is all about your nerves and nature. I mean no matter what the battle strategy I have I scare it anyway if a monster rushes around the corner
Sure if you have some kind of BFG it makes it easy to feel oneself brave :)
Therefore I came through 'Unreal 2' way back only with cheat codes because I was scared to play with limited ammo or health (I don't remember exactly what kind of cheat codes I chose) :)

:D
What is the most horrifying moment you had playing Doom 3?

Well Doom 3 was a master at suspense. The more frightful moments I had were in parts where nothing happened. Like that one area close to the beginning where you enter the kitchen/living area and theres the controls to the large metal window shield. I was against even opening it because I was such a scaredy-cat, I thought a monster was gonna come out, like a Hell Knight. :o

The first time I met those creepy little baby like monsters was a real hoot too.. ::shiver::

When I was young I got a kick our of playing the RE games at night, best time. Remember jumping a couple times.

Back when it first came out, i had nightmares of the wolves near the beginning of tomb raider 1 (ps1). Never touched a tomb raider game again, and thats talking 12ish years on.

Bioshock scares me with all the ambient noises constantly going on

FEAR had a couple spots that make me jump a little bit

but hl2?! scary?! you guys are crazy

HL2 could be a very uneasy game at times. THe graphics were SO good, and those freaky mutants could scare ya (me) T_T

FEAR especially.....

Four words: Climbing down the ladder............

Only part that ever scared me in FEAR. :D

i...LOVE...SCARY GAMES! I play F.E.A.R. at night (when i can i save it for a thunderstorm) and i wont let ANYONE near me cuz i like to do it alone. YES it scares the shit out of me, and i love it! I feel more like the person you play EVER than before. I LIVE for scary games. Condemned is another good one. love it . anyone remember MR. Tibits? O...M...F...G... THAT SCARED ME SO MUCH! AND I LOVED IT!

Fear and Doom 3 really scared me at night alone (especially with the sound cranked up). Hl2 is a little creepy at times, but nowhere near the fear/doom3.
