Are you scared to play action games at night?

HL2 could be a very uneasy game at times. THe graphics were SO good, and those freaky mutants could scare ya (me) T_T

i recall one level, where you are running through what i believe was a covenant ship, or station, that was taken over by the flood, its so dark, and the monsters come out of nowhere, it was really masterful for the bungie team to make HL2 scary when they wanted to

I get a kick out of BioShock, its not really that scary, cause u usually know whats ahead of you, but usually FPS's do scare me

Yeah half life 2. BUT halo 1 was freaky man, especially when you first meet the flood (only with the flood really).. My uncle first played my copy about a year ago, I noticed he was hiding in the corner during that level, I asked him what he was doing, and he admited that the flood scared him shitless and that he was too scared to go back down and fight them. Haha, baby..

Half Life 2 while going through Ravenholm(spelling?)......... The part that especially creeped me out was where you were on top of a building and you had the advanced, mutated monster-thingys climbing up the gutter pipes and the anticipation would freak you out.........

FEAR: That damn Samara girl and that damn ladder....... I haven't got much farther than that so there might be more...............

Games like BioShock and Resident Evil 4 aren't necessarily, out-right scary but there are certain scenes and sound effects that just make your skin crawl........

hmm hl2 and HL2 makes no difference to me, i have never played half life, so i wouldnt know if there are any scary parts

lol i actually get scared while playing some parts of halo

the dark zombie levels while im all alone in the dark. even sometimes during the day

lol

Well Doom 3 was a master at suspense. The more frightful moments I had were in parts where nothing happened. Like that one area close to the beginning where you enter the kitchen/living area and theres the controls to the large metal window shield. I was against even opening it because I was such a scaredy-cat, I thought a monster was gonna come out, like a Hell Knight. :o

The first time I met those creepy little baby like monsters was a real hoot too.. ::shiver::

Well, I wonder if any man has died ever during playing Doom3 or F.E.A.R or anything else of that kind? :D
It's could be really dangerous occasionally :D

but hl2?! scary?! you guys are crazy
Certainly Doom3 or F.E.A.R are the real examples of horror games though any action game can scare you a lot if you getting the way of too engrossed in it.
There was a real frightful level in Half Life 2 (I don't know the exact name for that level) in the night city with monsters.

Yes! FEAR absolutely scares the crap out of me at night with all the lights off and it's dead quiet and have the audio cranked! It's so fricken scary.

I remember the time when I was playing 'Serious Sam: The second encounter'. This in not the scary game at all though in Aztec pyramids I was using one trick letting me feel myself brave :) If it was seeming that any scary monsters would appear while you entering dark territory I was shooting the chain-gun all the time. You know you feel yourself brave with the chain gun clattering all the time. With no doubt it was a very lavish method because your bullets would run out fast :D

PS. Just remember the moment in 'Predator' flick (year 1987 with Arnold Schwarzenegger). There was an awesome episode when someone from Arnold's team (or Arnold himself, don't know remember exactly) mowed down all the trees around with chain-gun :)

i have never played half life
Never?

Fear

X2 for me. Fear was a spooky game to play at night. I almost shat myself when I was playing it late, lights off, sound system cranked, and my roommate snuck up behind me and grabbed me right when this zombie dude popped on the screen out of nowhere when I was walking down this hallway. Good Game. Hope FEAR 2 comes out soon.

hate to say it, but yup, never played it. is it really any good? or is it now one of those online games where a millisecond of lapse will have your head shot off because some nerd sitting at his computer for 20 odd hours has pwnage in mind?

So far, the only games to freak me out are the Silent Hill series. I mean, the first 2 scared the crap out of me. Then I played 3 on the PC (first one I played on a PC), and I had to shut it off after playing it for more than a couple hours. I'd sit in my apartment with headphones on. If I felt like I was starting to lose it, I'd turn it off and do something else.

That was a few years ago, though. So far nothing really bothers me. I mean, I get startled. When those heavily armored guys come blasting through doors and stuff in FEAR, I get twitchy. Stuff like that.

And as far as I'm concerned, there is one part of Half-Life 2 in particular that was rather creepy, and that was Ravenholm, with all of the head-crab zombies and such. The ones that throw the poison head-crabs sucked, but the really fast roof jumping zombies freaked me out. They were so fast, and all of a sudden there are like 3 on top of you. I was really cautious in Ravenholm.

Does anyone remember some of the older games, like Duke Nukem, Shadow-Warrior, Blood, and stuff like that? Doom 2.... Yeah, those were the first games to scare me. Back then, I was only like 11 or 12, and that stuff was as scary as it got. I remember Doom for the Nintendo 64 scared the crap out of me when I was like, 13. The graphics were better on the N64, plus the ambient noise and music.... babies crying and screams and stuff.
