Ok i have all my parts to complete my comp but not the cpu. I really want to go dual core when the prices drop but i really want a running comp now. What do u guys think i should do? I was looking at the 3500+ and maybe the 4200 X2 depending on price. Should I just get the 3500+ and upgrade to dual core later. Sorry for this stupid question, I just dont know what to do lol. Thanks

i would go with the 3500+ or higher for now because a lot of programs still don't function with the dual cores at this point in time (games ect...). They are starting to make things go along with the dual core but it would be better of to just go with the singel core for now and upgrade when the prices drop because they are rediculous right now. hope i helped

Prices are not rediculous. You can get an intel 805 proc for $120usd. Wait for July 24, but if your really want to get an am2 board and the cheapest amd proc there is then upgrade when the prices drop.

More outdated material. Dual cores work perfectly fine with all apps. The most you have to do in extreme circumstances is disable a core, which is very easy to do.

Prices are going to drop for AMD processors. I suggest waiting like encore4more said. As well, if you buy a single core, you will find yourself behind as more and more applications and games utilize dual core processors. If processor makers are creating quad core processors, you'd better choose a dual core to not have an archaic processor.

definitely don't buy anything that you'll end up wanting to upgrade in a month or two... its better to #1 wait for the AMD's prices to drop and check out conroe pricing... and #2 spend money on something that will last you.
i know i went with socket 754 and AGP when 939 and pci-e were newer things and look at me now.. old rig sold and new one built. i probably lost more money than i would have by just getting a 939 mobo and cpu with pci-e to start off.

i say get a lower prossesor im getting a 3200+ 939 socket model and in a few months when the price is way down il get like a 4400x2 after the summer if over i just need an ok cpu for wow and guild wars and a 3200+ can handle almost any game today as long as u have good suport ex 7600 or higher video card 2 gigs of ram and so on

For the people that are saying other CPU's...He says he has all the parts except for the CPU....Which I would assume that "all" includes the motherboard.

Yes I do have all of my components but the cpu. I think I will go for the 3500+. I just realized that I am going on vacation a day before the drop and wont b back for like 3 weeks, and prob by then everything will b on back order and I will have to wait another month + lol. And I dont mind shelling out the money later for a better CPU. Thanks for all the great insight guys.
