hey all, my local cex has arma 2 and arma reinforcements for sale used.

Are these games locked to an account ie, steam or something or can i still use them even though they are used.

You can use them even though they are used.

I initially bought my ArmA 2 preowned on disc, then bought it through steam on the deal with OA + BAF.

The game doesn't get bound to the key, it is only there for installation (so far as I can tell at least)

ace, im going to buy reinforcements as theyve sold out of arma 2, is it good? i wasnt too sure when i was looking it up a few week ago but its really starting to appeal to me :p also what are the air vehicles like as i really enjoy being a pilot in most games.

Most of the videos show third person, can you change this to first person?

i dont mind to much tbh but i thought id ask.

In my opinion the only thing you should get is ArmA 2 + Operation Arrowhead, as the vanilla ARMA 2 game requires a beastly machine to run, but the OA engine runs much better, and you canb play all the arma 2 missions inside OA if you own arma 2.

I have arma 2 and oa on steam, I right click operation arrowhead and select "launch arma 2 combined ops" which basically launches all the games and missions in one (if I own them). Since I only have arma 2 and oa, I can't play the british armed forces missions or private military company missons, but I can use the content like guns and vehicles in the armoury or multiplayer or co-op.

Depending on the difficulty, you can switch between first and third person, or only first person.

Hmm, good stuff, well what im thinking of dong is getting reinforcements as i depserately need a new game after dices failed patch yesterday, and then buying the aniversary pack. Its only £25 :P

If you have mates that also play arma2 it's a lot of fun, me and awildgoose play co op a whole lot.

Bought it about 10 mins ago, just installing now :D

Had to get reinforcements as they no longer had arma 2, but if i like it im buying the annviersary box set in a few week :P

Only had a bit on the game bvut i can tell its good :p, this thing is unreal :D

Btw why are the shadows all messed up, like if i have them on high all the plants are bright white, setitng the shadows to low sorts it out a bit :/

Is this problem addressed in patch 1.59? as im downloading it now.

mike, if you want people to play with and have got OA, hit me up on Steam or Xfire (I think I have you on one of them, my name on there is [ESF] Retify), we have a few that quite regularly go on it, usually on custom missions and it is a hell of a lot of fun

Iv only got RFT atm, but i do intend to buy the rest. :p so i will add you when that happens.

Can steam owners and retail owners play on the same servers?

Also is there anyway to set up like air missions in the custom editor? where i only use a heli for example?

meh i preferred arma 2, OA has a lot less content as far as weapons vehicles etc.

Yikes its a steep learning curve :p

Im stuck on the third mission where you have to protect the fob, hunt down the mortars, fight off an armoured convoy amongst other tasks :/ how am i supposed to do it with 8 guys or how ever many i have lol.

Yeah the interface is something awful... you'll get used to it though!

Oh, Turbo, I agree with you on the content. I just run all the ARMA2 content plus the OA content inside the OA engine. Steam has it set up with combined ops like I said, you can run any of the missions in the one game. :D

thats pretty good, OA does run a lot better. Can you use all the arma 2 weapons and vehicles in the map editor too?

Yes we can play, it is the same game, just a different media, you have it on a disc, I have it on the cloud to download.

And I am 99% sure yes, put a heli where you spawn and make the objectives be to clear out an area or to destroy X, Y and Z. You can then transport people around or act as close air support for them, or a combination

I worked it out :P, i also got past the third mission, on the fourth now and i am loving it :D

Still getting my head around it all but so far loving it.

Definately wil be buying the arma x set.

Just finished the british campaign....bit short, slightly dissapointed at that.

How long is the original arma 2 and OA?
