Art work: specific request for help: fan controller power supply

Dear reader,

As an artist I struggle with the unknown world of computer components, which I want to use in a 'non-computer' context.

Question:
For an art work I want to connect 6 case fans to a NZXT Sentry 3 fan controller. However, I will not make use of a desktop, which means I have to provide the fan controller with a different power source than the regular computer power supply.

I currently tried a 12v 3a adapter, which is not working..(maximum combined wattage of fan controller is 75watt) how to solve this power supply issue?

FYI: You can power up a computer power supply without a motherboard. I would suggest going this route and using a smaller computer supply.
