As far as laptop gpu goes..

I like my current laptop..sort of..but I can potentially get a good deal on an ASUS with 6700 cpu skylake, ddr4, and a 970m

My question, how decent is the 970M card in laptops? Thats really the deciding factor for me

According to the chart on the right of the page that lists all the GPU's, it sits around the power of a Radeon HD 7970/R9 280X. My brother has one in his laptop and it games about as well as my desktop does honestly...

Thanks Darren.. I'm on the fence about what to do.. just kinda fed up with this MSI laptop, it was a smoking deal when I got it but I'm going to be traveling a bunch soon and I want a better laptop to game on the road.

The 840M is pretty comparable to the 740M in my laptop. It's.... okay. It works for light gaming and being a secondary machine, but the 970M would blow it out of the water if you're looking at upgrading.

Ya the Skylake laptops with ddr4 are pretty reasonable here so it's tempting.

Only thing I cant find out is if all trim levels have the M.2 slot, or only some..

It appears the machine I'm looking at indeed has 2 x M.2 slots and the CM236 chipset is RAID ready!!! Dual M.2 Samsung 950 Pro is tempting.
