AS5 on GPU?

Hey guys,

I bought a Scythe Musashi cooler for my GTS 250 because the temps I was getting with stock were really high.

My main criticism at the moment is with the ramsinks - the thermal glue that came pre-applied seems to be awful - when I turn it upside down to go into my case, about 3 of the 8 ramsinks come off.. sigh. So I bought some thermal double-sided adhesive tape anyway, will try applying that on Monday.

Anyway, as I'll be taking apart to do that, I wondered if it was worth using AS5 instead of the thermal grease that came with the Musashi - I'm reading conflicting stuff about the conductivity of AS5 and it possibly shorting components if used on a GPU. Then I see people saying it's nonsense if you apply it properly, and knocks 4 or 5degrees off your temps.

Any more pieces of advice/opinions?

Cheers.

Well it is a thermal compound, so if you made connections on the circuit board with any thermal compound you run the risk of shorting out your board. I took off my heatsink to clean it and I used AS5 to re attach it and I have had no problems what so ever. Just be careful not to use too much.
