Hello :D everyone. I am new to the board, but have been around reading great topics on this forum. I am currently gathering info to build my first comp. I am a noob @ this so bare with me if my selections arnt great. I would just like some honest feedback from everyone about the selections that I am going to list for my lil project. Any advice would be appreciated. Also since iam building an Intel comp, some suggestion on what amd setup would be similar to my Intel? Or which is better to get? Thanx. Btw I’ll be using this comp for games, browsin, etc.

Basics
Intel Pentium 4 3.4 650 800MHz FSB LGA 775 EM64T Processor
ASUS P5WD2 Premium ATX Intel Motherboard
Maxtor DiamondMax 10 200GB 3.5" Serial ATA150 Hard Drive
XFX Geforce 6800GT PVT45GUDF3 Video Card
CORSAIR Value Select 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM

Well if your going to be playing a fair amount of games, i would go the AMD route, such as an AMD Athlon64 3700+. And is that video card PCI-E or AGP?

PCI-E

I was thinking about AMD but all these Ocing talk just makes things complex for me... well sounds easy, but monitoring it and maintain this and that .. I just don’t want to deal with or just don’t feel comfortable doing it... 2nd how much more diff does it make?? Playing games? Are we talking about like smooth non-stop graphics? Or just few quality difference?

if ur playing battlefield 2 only then i would probably stick with the pentium 4 but if ur playing other gaems go with the amd. also u will probably have smooth high end graphics with the amd, and probably the pentium. but if u are a gamer and plan on playing other games as they come out. go with the amd.
