asrock A55m-hvs

Hi all, I have a fairly old system with an asrock A55m-hvs mobo, socket 1 A8 3870 cpu. I want to buy a good graphics card as the one I have is a bit underpowered for the light gaming I do (Radeon HD 5450).
The handbook supplied with the mobo recomends either a HD6670 or a HD 6570 for crossfireing. Am i limited to these cards or can I put one of the newer cards in IE Radeon R7 etc?

You can use any video card you want but in order to use hybrid crossfire you have to those mentioned above since the 3870 uses hd 6550 video.
 
Why do you have a 5450 with the APU? The iGPU is faster.

I wouldn't bother with hybrid crossfire
