Been directed here by a friend from an IRC room I use. (Many thanks Jimmymac)
Ok, as it is I see myself as an advanced user when it comes to PC's (Strip / rebuilds, repairs, upgrades) running an IRC server on linux, & general comp trouble shooting issues.
I basicaly need a second opinion on the following problem I have...
Hardware:
ASrock AM2NF6G-VSTA
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
500 GIG SATA II Samsung Spinpoint
2 x 1 GIG Kingston Hyper X DDR2 - PC2-6400 (800mhz)
Samsung DVD / CDRW Combi
Pioneer 111 DVD DL burner
Sumvision Power X 450w PSU
The problem I am getting is various BSOD's (IRQ less than, CDFS File Table corrupt, NTFS File Table Corrupt, & a few others which I can not remember), to random reboots whilst installing. All this is happening on the first stage of installing just before the first required reboot after the files have been dragged off the instlation media. so far I have tried XP Home, XP Pro, W2K, Media Center Edition 2005, & SuSE Linux v10.2, both origonal & backup copies (Incase the origonal copies are faulty).
So far I have checked all cabling, DVD drives, & Hard Drive in my MSI sck939, & they all work 100% when requested to do a new install of XP, W2K, or Suse Linux v10.2. Because my sck939 machine is unable to test the DDR2 memory I have I got a friend to test it in his Intel setup he has. Boots & runs perfect, & has been given a clean bill of health by memtest. I have also cleared the BIOS 3 times so far, used default settings, & also used optermised settings according to the hardware I have installed.
I have gone to the point of even auto-claving the HD to make sure any crap which I may have messed up on is gone, & tried a known working PSU from my sck939 machine.
Only thing I have not done so far is upgrade the mainboard firmware.
From looking at this I feel the only IDE channel that the mainboard has may have a fault of some discription.
What I want to know from this, is what your thoughts are on the possible fault, & if I should check to see if any updated firmware is available for this mainboard.
