Having trouble installing Windows 7 from DVD, most of the time, when I get to the install window, the keyboard and mouse won't work, making it impossible to continue installing. I have tried different bios settings, changing ports, changing from 2.0 to 3.0, I was able to install Windows 8.1 on a different drive, I have read somewhere, that it would work but you have to retry it 4-5. There does not seem to be a bios update. Any suggestions?

Make sure you aren't using usb 3.0 ports as they will not work until you are inside windows and the driver is installed. Also, disable secure boot and enable legacy boot if that is one of the bios options. Remove any hardware not needed to boot. Only have mouse, keyboard, ram, cpu, video card if not running onboard video. Do not have any external hdd's plugged in or any pci cards.
