Assembling my hardware (first timer), cpu question.

This is my first time building a computer. The only thing I am not familiar with is putting the MOBO and the CPU.

CPU: i7 920
MOBO: P6T DELUXE V2

I know about the arrow on the MOBO and CPU to align them properly, but I was told by the guy at the store who sold me my parts that my i7 didn't need thermal paste because it already had it.

I just want to confirm.

As far as preventing static issues, any tips? Wear shoes while assembling?
If you have any video or picture guides please paste them here. Thanks. :)

Thanks for the info + guide!

How do I touch the metal on the case if I need my 2 hands though? :P I don't have that wire ground thing.

Before you start working on the inside of the case just tap it with one hand real quick.

Ah nice nice, thanks.

BTW, I see in the guide that the guy is using a screw driver with a magnet attachement. Isn't that bad/dangerous?

Not really, the only magnetic sensitive part is the hard drive, and even then something as small as a screwdriver magnet wont hurt it. Case and point, hard drive themselves have large magnets in them for the read/write arm, so something as weak as a screw holding magnet wont really hurt it..

Is there a maximum amount of ram I can boot with before installing 64-bit Vista?

If its vista stock, pre service pack 1, you will want to only install with 2gb of memory, you can have a full 4/6gb or more though with service pack one already on the dvd.

Yep, says includes SP1.

I'm booting with 12GB DDR3, hope that won't be a problem.

Thanks for the info!

Once I install vista, do I need to configure anything really important in the BIOS?
Or do I need to do BIOS things first? Is there a guide for this? I just want to make sure.

Thanks!
