assistance building a new computer

I built a computer about 5 years ago and it finally died, I haven't been current with anything those past years, i was wondering if someone would be able to give me a brief list of things that would work well for a gaming computer, my budget would be $1,000. The computer would be mostly used for online games. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

this will be a beast, or you could go amd and up to a 6970 or something, but this is plenty powerful and can almost max or max everything out to date.
