Assistance with GFX Card

Hello everyone,

I am interested in purchasing a GFX card for my PC.

My PC is mainly used for watching videos and some photo editing with PhotoShop and OnOneSoftware.

I am not really familiar with GFX cards since I've always used on board video, but would appreciate some replies on what video card would be a good choice.

Currently have an HDMI from Monitor to Tower so ideally something with HDMI.

Thank you

Hi,

What is it not doing fast enough now that you're looking for improvements on? Any particular games you were looking to play or similar?

Most typical upgrades involve the power supply as well as the video card, but a lot of it comes down to both your budget and performance expectations.

Actually, I believe it works fine, but was just thinking adding a video card could improve the picture quality overall. No game playing on my end all.

Budget wise was thinking roughly a 100.

In that case you'd be better off investing in a display instead. What monitor do you have currently?

Hi John, Happy New Year.

I really don't believe my Monitor is actually bad, but from what your saying I guess I was under the wrong impression.

Just really thought a Video Card could help improve. Quality is fine. I normally play files back with Plex Media Server or VLC.

I've messed with the settings on the monitor as well. I guess I could just be overthinking the whole outcome/picture quality.

I used to buy nothing but Acer monitors but I have noticed some models are more grainy then others. Most of the monitors either had 1680 x 1050 (i think) or 1920 x 1080 resolutions. At least thats my opinion of them. Even looking at tv's at walmart lately, you can tell that some just don't have a good picture as others, even within the same brand.
