Asus A7N8X-X audio problems

Hi all

I recently bought an Asus A7N8X-X motherboard which i have installed using the set up disk that came with it but i am having a few problems with the sound. now the audio for windows and MP3's and wav files seems to work alright and everything seems ok until you open up the games......no audio!!....i have tried everything to get it working, been into the sound controllers etc.... even re-installed the games but still no joy.

is there somebody out there that can help me? maybe someone who had the same problem and managed to resolve it? i am a bit of a newbie to all this so as much help as possible would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, I've only ever had this problem with 2 soundcards (the game sends to whatever sound card it feels like at the time), my next guess would be DirectSound issues. run DxDiag and check the directsound diagnostics tab or update directX to 9.0c if you haven't already

1 Can i get some example games?
2 Did you try running the game via "Safe mode" or without hardware support?
3. Check teh WAV balance in the volume control


do you have a pci soundcard installed as well?

Unlike my mobo, the A7N8X-X supports dual concurrent.

well these are the games that i've checked so far

Command & Conquer Generals
Mame Emulator
Gens Emulator
Alice
Casino Inc
might and magic 7

none of these have any sound as of yet and i have tried the wav fader & balance in the audio mixers. but i'm not too sure about how to run in safe mode or without hardware support, if you could let me know how to do that it would be great.

i will try the direct x diagnostics and find a copy of the DX9.0c as well

uh oh..I hope this is just a problem with your mobo...I just got the A7N8X-X and C&C Generals is one of my fave games :S

i had a prob with my asus motherboard

problem was the case was not the right size

and i could not get to the sound card sockets on the back

Yaay!!!

problems sorted! Directx9.0c did the trick. just took me ages to download as i'm still on 56k dialup and my connection kept getting cut halfway through download.

Thanks so much for your help guys without you i'd be a quivering mass of stress by now. :)
