I bought my A8N5X about 6 months ago. My chip fan is already going bad, meaning it is creating a loud noise when it is plugged in. Has anyone had a problem so early with this motherboard?

When I initlally purchased it from newegg.com, it had a bad PCI-E plug, and inconvenienced me by about a month.
 
Working fine here, fan is really quiet considering it's at 5k rpm, I had no problems with PCI-Express slot either, I'm suprised how good this board is performing, great overclock capabilities, I have it for around 8 months now I think.

I don't know what to say, looks like you have no luck with it.
 
When you buy a motherboard from Newegg, they dont accept returns and you have to deal with the manufacturer. So they fixed the PCI-E but there wasnt a problem with the chip fan.

If you found a problem right away with the board why didn't you return it then for a replacement? Whenever you receive a problem assume there may other problems that come up. I am wondering if all chip fans are the same size? The reason I am asking is that my chip fan has two black-colored screws, not the four in the link provided. Will this cause a problem?
 
I have to say, my A8N5X runs like a dream, teh chipset runs at a cool 25C all the time. Had no problems at all.

If you are missing two fastening screws the fan would probably be rattling a bit even if the two present are good and tight. You would have to take one to a hardware store to find a matching pair if you didn't mind the lack of the black anodized color if they were simply plain metal. But that seems to be one thing to look at there. You would just have to match length and thrad size to see that done. You don't want any too long or too short.

Okay, question. On your fan looking down at it, yours only has two screws total, none missing. Diagram looking like below, and the X's are the screws with black tips. The links you provide have them on the corner's and not on the horizonal opposite sides. Whats up with this?

You would have to look over the dimensions for the coolers seen at those links after measuring the distance your board. What you are looking at for the most part is the offset shape of the cooler while the placement of the screws remains the same. You just have to choose the one that is correct for your model board.
