asus eee 900 virus protection

i have this netbook and wondering whats the easiest virus protection to run.
its only got 1gb memory and xp. its got norton on it now, i was thinking of avast? what do you recommend

Norton hogs any machine's resources.

Another gig of memory would help out too. I have the same netbook and got a 2GB stick and it helped.

just took out the 1gb and replaced it with a 2gb is a little faster not much.
also deleted norton made it a little faster too. i think the asus 900 is just sloooow.

It's not an old netbook, but it's not the newest, but yeah. Mine is a bit slow too.
 
I don't even use mine much anymore. I bought it aroundmarch of last year because my D600 had a dying motherboard and it would cause issues with my wireless/ethernet so I needed some kind of laptop to get me online. I still love Elliot to death of course :)
 
I got the exact same. First thing I did when I bought it was to uninstall Norton. Then I got AVAST and its been running fine since. Good luck.
