Asus EEEPC 900 on Newegg!

Okay, so why not use an HDD instead of cutting edge technology, considering their whole campaign for the product was "one computer for every child the most affordable ever blah blah"?

the new eee pc is perfect For those who travel a lot and want something for the go... and the price is very good

the article i read about the interview with the ceo of asus was that they didn't want to use moving parts as it eats too much energy.

as for linux.... asus did that to save money. xp version are typically 50 bucks more (asus got MS to go low or else no MS OS!!!)

acer is coming out with their super small machine. i think they're going to use a regular hdd. should be cheaper.

regarding the price.... that' a good deal. i was going to get the 4 gig version that's about 400 bucks. good thing i didn't pull the trigger.

There is the XP version on Newegg also for the same price, however, its a 12GB Drive instead of a 20GB

Yeah, well, when Asus started hyping these the price was going to be $100.

You can say the price is "very good" all you like, but that won't make it true.

It's an overpriced novelty toy like a Mac.

There are vastly superior laptops available for 400 bucks.

Find me one of a similar size to the eee pc.

I'm pretty sure these aren't in competition with regular laptops....at all. I for one would not buy one of these as a laptop replacement. I would buy one of these solely for the purpose of an ultra portable pc that would take as much effort to take with me as a psp or a nintendo ds. If I needed to take power with me then I'd take my laptop, otherwise just for internet surfing, documenting and chatting, one of these would be perfect, and a lot less of a hassle to take.

Heres how I look at it:

For power, I have my desktop

For moderate power and portability, I have my laptop.

For portability, eee pc

Say hello to the biggest rip off of the century! LOL I like the price and the specs on the smaller version. The smaller version is actually worth the price of $250
