asus eeepc???

Hey everyone!
I'm thinking about getting my wife an asus eeepc but she really wants the pink one and it only comes in 2Gb.....I personally hate linux but they say they are windows xp compatible...they come in 2Gb, 4Gb and 8Gb....the colored ones only come in 2Gb though.....will I be able to run windows xp on it? even though its 2Gb?....as long as she doesn't save anything to the computer, just memory sticks?

2 gig is plenty for xp... well not plenty.. but definately enough.

There are nice coloured ones which comes as 4GB also.

btw, 2GB Hard Disk space is not enough for XP, 4GB is on the small side also.

Theres one that has 4gb on it. However, like Garethman said, 4gb is on the small side. I don't even think that will be enough because you have to take into consideration updates and stuff as well to the OS.

.....is this the same sort of thing as the 4Gb one from newegg or is the one from newegg better? could I put an additional sd card into the one from newegg?

nah i have installed xp on a 1.8gb hard drive. and it ran the same as my 80 gig. like it wasnt lacking space for paging file or anything. but for storage yes it will need more.

as kuzba said 2 gigs is minimum for xp

after that you can trim it down using 3rd party programs like xp lite:

According to this, you can get it with XP now.

And by-the-way, The Source over prices EVERYTHING. If anything, try Futureshop, or bestbuy, they are better priced. London Drugs might have it as well(they Price-Match too with an extra 10% off).

EDIT: Futureshop, Bestbuy, and london drugs Don't have it. But it might be able to get ordered in.

a while ago i read an article about the eee with xp.

the ceo of asus didn't want xp in there as it would add to the price. MS was willing to drop the price to 50 bucks or so but instead they opted for the free OS. i'll find the article once i encounter it

ok thanks a lot guys...I just ordered the 4Gb with the webcam and everything from PCvillage...and they come in multi-colors too.
