i have an asus essentio: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+...rive/1243364.p?id=1218240378508&skuId=1243364

i was wondering when i shut down, everything turns off but the asus words in the front are still in bright white light and a little green light inside the desktop. so im wondering if its not fully shut down. there is a switch in the back which turns off the asus white light and the little green light. today my computer froze completely 2 times and i had to flip the switch on the back and restart it but i feel like im damaging my comp :( i hope this is not a big problem..my asus isn't even a month old yet D: Answers are highly appreciated :)

again today it froze just once which i had to manually shut down. i really dont want this to be a bigger problem i didn't buy guarrenty from best buy because i didnt think it was gonna be annoying already .. again not even a month old... :(

They charged you $850 for that? Crikey...I mean it's not a bad machine but Best Buy is getting pretty awful with their prices.

When it freezes up, what exactly happens? Does it happen during a specific task? Does holding the power button not shut it off?

As for the issue with it "not shutting down", believe it or not, all desktop computers still use some power even when they're shut down. The +5VSB rail on the power supply stays active, and can provide enough power for lights and things...this is what's powering the "Asus" light on the front. Nothing's wrong with it. :)

well at first i thought steam was causing the freezing, but then it happened when steam wasn't running. everyday when i get home from school and turn it on it freezes at some point when im browsing or chatting on steam with friends. today it froze two times and i had to restart it, holding the power button does shut it off, but every time i shut it down manually and start it up asus keeps popping up this thing where it says i have a new PC installed every time. even before the freezing happened it would pop up that message when it is starting up even thought i already updated everything from it. should i take it to best buy and have them take a look if they can fix the freezing? oops one more thing sometimes it freezes then turns black and goes back to normal, just only sometimes.

It says there's a new PC installed? Huh?

This sounds like it could be a software problem.

I wouldn't take it back to best buy unless they'll fix it for free...otherwise you'll pay out the nose for them to go google how to fix it.

oh ok thanks for your help ill try googling :3 if i cant find anything i guess ill have best buy check it up. hopefully its free cause i didn't have this for a month yet.. Thanks Again your replies are highly appreciated :)

No problem man :)

I'm just trying to figure out what it could mean by "new PC installed"...? Is that exactly how it was worded?

I'm sure it was cpu instead of pc unless it mean pc :O. I took it to best buy geek squad on Saturday, turns out that I have a 1 year guarentee on it, if it is a hardware problem. On the paper they gave me it said the estimated completion date is on janurary 18th but I couldn't pick it up cause I was busy that day. Does it mean for sure its fixed on that day or do I wait till best buy calls me to pick it up?
