Hey
i have been trying to figure out how its all suposed to work? lol
Specifications:
IDE: 3x ATA 133(1 from Promise 20378) up to 6 Devices
Onboard SATA/RAID: VT8237, 2xSATA, RAID 0/1; Promise R20378, 2x SATA, RAID 0/1/0+1
(above from Newegg)
i looked for a bit on the Mobo and all i could find was the PRI_IDE and SEC_IDE slots and the PRI_RAID
i then pulled out the book and read a bit on it
bit it didnt state how one would set it up to have 6 drives at one time?? not that i plan on hooking up that many drives right now but i would like to know just to know lol
in the book it states:
South Bridge Supports
2 x ATA 133 Connectors
2 x Serial ATA with Raid 0, Raid 1
Promise PDC20387 Raid Controller
1 X UltraDMA 133 supports 2 hard drives
2 X Serial ATA connectors
Raid 0, Raid 1, Raid 0+1 Configurations
now that i have almost lost my thought train here
this is what i was wondering
if one had say 4HDD's and 2 opticals
all IDE
how would it be connected to the board?
1. HDD1(os on it) and HDD2 conected to PRI_RAID, HDD3 + HDD4 on PRI_IDE, Opt1 + Opt2 on SEC_IDE?
2. HDD1+HDD2 on PRI_IDE, Opt1+Opt2 on SEC_IDE, HDD3+HDD4 on PRI_RAID?
since if i under stood the book right the PRI_RAID cant deal with Optical's?
and with 3 HDD's and 2 Opticals
1. HDD1+HDD2 on PRI_RAID, HDD3 on PRI_IDE, Opt1+Opt2 on SEC_IDE?
2. HDD1+HDD2 on PRI_IDE, HDD3 on PRI_RAID, Opt1+Opt2 on SEC_IDE?
and my last question SATA has 2 conectors dose that limit it to 2 drives?
thanks for reading this far guys it must be quite scrambled to read
