Hi i've just purchased this mobo and need to buy the RAM! (please see attached QVL list)

http://uk.asus.com/440/download/products/1178/1178_10.pdf

Does anyone know where I can find the 800 1 GB Hynix or the 800 1GB Micron in the UK? I've checked out loads of sites (Dabs, aria, scan, savastore + microdirect) but have had little luck!

Also just for the sake of it what is better 1GB of 667 RAM or 512MB of 800 RAM?

Thanks:confused:

Sorry I meant to reply to this yesterday but I got side tracked. If you pick DDR2 modules that run @1.8V it will work. There should be updated BIOSs shipping on these boards by now that will let them work out of the box with a lot more non 1.8V RAM.

You don't have to pick RAM off the QVL, plently of other RAM works. I'm not sure what, if any, stores sell Hynix/Micron brand RAM. I thought they were both mostly (if not solely) an OEM supplier meaning they supply RAM to companies like Dell.

Crucial (http://www.crucial.com/) is the end-user division of Micron. I don't know if Hynix has one, they probably do.

To keep things simple, I'm going to close this thread off and we will continue in your thread in the motherboard section. http://www.computerforum.com/70779-qvl-asus-p5b.html
