I guess my computer would be considered almost antique here, being based on a P5GD1 motherboard with 1GB RAM and a 2.8GHz processor. But it's what I have and it works fine for what I built it to do. Actually seems to work better than the computer I have at work...
Anyway, I'm considering adding more RAM and was sort of hoping to have 4GB in dual channel mode, but the qualified vendors list in the P5GD1 manual (and on asus homepage) is ridiculous. There are no 1GB memories listed which can be used to get 4GB in dual channel mode, and for single channel mode the manual seems to suggest only a single slot can be used. Is anyone successfully running 4GB in dual (or single) channel mode with the P5GD1 motherboard? Or am I limited to using 4x512MB? Not that I don't think 2GB would be sufficient for me, but the more the better, right? And what's to be preferred, 2GB dual channel or 4GB single channel?
