Hey guys,

I'm looking into building a new system. The place that I'm buying the parts from (I'm in Australia), offers a limited number of MBs with SLI capabilities

here is the link to the page of parts offered from this place

http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf

I'm looking at the ASUS P5N32E-SLI (which will soon be in stock at this place) and I'm wondering whether it will be a good motherboard or not

here are the specs I'm after

Intel Q6600 Quad-core CPU - I want to be able to overclock this - I'm wondering whether this MB will be able to OC well
MSI-OC 512MB 8800GT - I'm planing to buy one now and later down the track when I feel the need, I want to get a second one of these to run in SLI
4GB 800mhz DDR2 RAN - 2x 2GB kit (2x1GB) A-DATA H.S.
2x Seagate SATA 500GB HDDs at 7200rpm
2 DVD drives
D-Link PCI DWL-G520M MIMO 108G wireless card
Leadtek DV2000-1394 TV Tuner
Coolmaster RealPower Pro 650w Power Supplu

I will also be putting in an aftermarket cooling system in - the Zalman CNPS 9700-LED

all in an Antec Nine Hundred case

I basically want to know your opinions of this board and whether its any good, if i cant get this one, ill be forced to get the striker extreme (which i have heard is a fantastic board but is more than what id like to spend on a MB)

I apreciate your help,

Thanks

I decided against the X38 mainly because its overkill for what I really want, the only X38 options sold at this place are Gigabyte and they don't do SLI MBs

Do you reckon that the ASUS board is any good because it is either that one or the striker extreme, which i think is crap for its price and im trying to avoid it if possible

jds21, I own the P5N32-E sli board and it is a very decent board. Alot of people have problems overclocking the quad on it though. I run the E6850 C2D on it and have it clocked at 3.6ghz. Also the board is very picky aboutwhat memory you use so be sure that whatever you choose that it is on the QVL which is listed on Asus website.I will be changing to a P35 board and running one 8800GT and the new Q9450 quad when they come out. The P35 has been proven to be a good stable and overclocking board.

I would like an SLI compatible board because i would like to get one 8800GT on it and later on get another to run in SLI for better performance. What is your opinion of the striker extreme? I know its a good board but its a bit more than i would like to spend on an MB... I've just looked on the ASUS site and compared the Striker Extreme to the P5N32-E sli and there doesn't seem to be a great deal of difference... I suppose I'll wait to see how much the P5N32-E sli will cost me at this place and if its not that much cheaper than the striker ill just go with that

The only difference that I could see is just afew more bells and whistles, that's why I went with the P5N32-E Sli.
