ASUS P6X58D-E vs GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R

The Gigabyte does have 1600 RAM included in their Approved Vendors list of RAM for that MB. I doubt you'd have a issue. I've got the ASUS board and like it very well. One feature it does have is a "MemOK" button next to the RAM slots. You can see it if you use the magnification tool on Newegg's viewer. If you're RAM won't boot with the MB, the button will begin automatic compatability tuning. I haven't had to use it so I can't speak for it's effectiveness. Looking at the Gigabyte board, I don't think my cooler, (Prolimatech Megahalems), would clear the NB due to the height of the cooler fins.

I'm not going to tell you the ASUS board is your best choice, because I have no experience with that Gigabyte board, but I will tell you mine has been flawless. The specs on the two boards are nearly identical and I consider both top quality manufacturers. When shopping Newegg I do tend to use the Customer Ratings to help me rank my choices.
