Asus Pc1000 Linux

Hi, guys

Hope someone can help me.

I've just bought one of the above and last night I tried to log on to the net.
It found my wireless router OK and asked for the key. I think that as the keys are smaller than I'm used to I may have entered the key incorrectly.

Whilst when I click on the network it shows my wireless connection 100% when I click on connect nothing happens - it doesn't request the key anymore.

How can I reinput the key or can I re-set the notebook to the factory settings would that sort it?

Would connecting it to my router by cable resolve it?

I haven't much knowledge of computers so any help gratefully accepted.

Thanks.

Which flavor of Linux are you using? Have you tried restarting your router?

Hi, mate

I don't know what Linux version it is I'm afraid (how can I find out?)
and Ihaven't restarted the router although it's working fine with this aged desktop of mine and the wife's laptop. But I'll try that anyway.

Do you know where I can find some instructions for creating a wi-fi connection?

Correct me if i'm wrong but i thought the idea was if you found a network you just had to connect to it (and input the key if necessary) and away you go?

It finds our router with no trouble at all but when I click on connect - nothing!

I've managed to get into it and change the security key which I may have mistyped first time around but no difference.

Do I need to create a connection manually?

I'm not very experienced so all this is a bit puzzling and frustrating!!

Thanks for your reply and if you have any other help I'd be really grateful.

Thank you. :)

If you have a graphical interface (which I am assuming you do), then there should be a menu item (probably under System or Administration) that says something along the lines of "About".

Click on that and you should get an idea of what operating system you are using.
