ASUS/USB Problem..

Alright..well I posted a USB problem thread a while ago, and no responses. But, now I have found another piece to the puzzle..

This was my post before, just to give you an idea of my problems before..

Alright, well recently my USB slots haven't been working. I recently re-booted Vista on my PC, and everything was fine. But, my wireless keyboard and mouse weren't working. Also, my capture card hasn't worked yet since I re-installed Vista. I am currently on a wired keyboard and mouse. The mouse is USB, but I couldn't get it to work so I'm using one of those converters to go into the standard slot. My Xport360 hasn't been working, either. Lastly, I had to go to Alltel yesterday because my phone wouldn't turn on, and the guy reset it for me and told me I just needed to charge it. Well, the USB cord to my computer wouldn't work, but my outlet charger would.

Any suggestions on possible fixes to the situation? Starting to get very annoying...

Well, I recently re-booted Windows XP thinking that it would solve the problem. It didn't. They still don't work, and I am still pissed. I have a bad feeling my motherboard is bad..

I have an ASUS P5NSLI and I bought it last summer around late July. If it is bad, does anybody have recommendations on a new one? I bought this thinking I would utilize the whole SLI feature, and just never needed it.

I will be reeling it $340 this Thursday, and I hope to buy a new motherboard, case, and possibly faster ram, or 1gb more 667.

Does anything work pluged into a USB port like a printer or scanner.

Nothing works..that's why I have a bad feeling I need to buy a new motherboard. I unplugged my card reader and such, and I unplugged that, and even the ones built into the motherboard don't work.

Above the USB root hub does it show Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller and Standard Open USB host controller or something to that effect?

Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller and Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Controller. Yeah, they are both there.

Try right clicking on them in Device Manager and click uninstall and reboot and let windows reinstall the drivers again.

Yea just uninstall them and reboot, windows will redetect them and reinstall the drivers, it could just be a driver glitch. Then plug something in one of the ports and see if it works.

Its possible but its worth a try. Its just weird they they would go out like that. Started to say that it was possible that they got disabled in the bios, but if that was so they would not show up in Device Manager.

Pretty sure when you uninstall either the hub or the controller it takes the other one out with it, so you really only have to uninstall 2 of them. Think I said that right.

Just tell me what to uninstall and what not to out of:
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
PCI thing
OpenHCD thing

Start with the Enhanced Controller then the Standard Open controller, when you uninstall those it will probable take out a root hub with each one.
