Here is the problem:

Few nights ago, i had a problem with windows 7 freezing up on the "starting windows" screen. As i was troubleshooting the problem and restarted the computer, the CPU LED and the DRAM LED came on.

What I've Done:

I carefully read through the motherboard manual and proceeded to press the MemOK button. After the computer restarted the LED's were still on. I shut off the computer, took my Corsair Vengeance Ram out blew dust out the slots, made sure there was no clear sign of scratches on the ram sticks. Placed them back in and restarted the computer. Still no luck. I was convinced the RAM was not the problem, so i decided to unplug everything take all the components out and thoroughly checked for any sign of damage, scratches, and dust. I took out the I7 960 and took a quick look at the pins. Nothing seemed out of place. I reapplied thermal paste and put everything back to normal. Clicked the power on button, and still have the 2 LED's glowing.

I was stuck/frustrated and decided to google the problem. In the end result of people sharing similar problems, most concluded it was a motherboard problem, particularly with the pins in the socket. After people replaced their motherboard, their problems went away. forever.

History of the Motherboard:

I've had this motherboard for about a year now, and has never shown ANY problems. I have a nice build and triple checked every components compatibility. (GTX 570 oc, Corsair 40GB SSD, Western Digital 750GB HD, 850Watt silver stamped Corsair PSU)

My question:

Should i just buy the same motherboard? Look into a different brand (EVGA)? or should i all together upgrade to the intel i5 sandybridge processor and a compatible motherboard?

Just because you've inspected your components externaly doesnt mean it have no damage inside, some of the damage are from the chipset itself.

I just switched out the RAM, and the problem persisted. I thought it might have been the PSU and so i switched it out, and the problem persisted. I switched out my i7 and the problem persisted.

I am convinced the motherboard is done for. Is there any suggestions/advice for solving this dilemma? should i choose a new motherboard? if so, what should i buy?
