ata ide???????????

aye the ATA connection point is for your IDE drives, be aware though that in having just a single ATA channel on the board you would need optical drives to be SATA controlled

aye it was an issue i had, so hard to get two seperate IDE channels on a decent motherboard as I have IDE Hard drives and I had IDE optical drives too. The cheapest solution in the end was to buy a SATA optical drive as they are just as cheap as IDE ones now, picked up a nice Optiarc for around £20 meaning I had no need for the second IDE channel on the motherboard :)
