With the FX-60 no longer sold since being recalled by AMD you can look over different X2 models depending on whether this will be for stock or any ocing. For stock the fastest X2 model still available would be the 4800+ X2.

Presently newegg as well as other vendors are only seeing the 3800+ X2 model instock for the moment with some deactivated indefinitely. That would be a slower 2ghz dual core over going with a faster model found at another vendor. The 4000+, 4200+, 4400+, and 4600+ models are the X2 models inbetween with one 4600+ found retail at http://computers.pricegrabber.com/processors-unboxed-oem/m/9157347/search=amd%20939%20x2

At this time besides places like EBay and Amazon.com Socket 939 models are shrinking fast with everything being AM2 for AMD and 775 for Intel.

They recalled the ones vendors had when those were discontinued. Vendors like newegg had to return them to AMD then. When looking at one for the last build here they were suddenly gone when going to order. That was to replace the 3500+ at the time.

The problem now is that all 939 models are being cleared out with everything being AM2 by most vendors. Plus it's right after the holidays when restocking inventory will take some time as usuall since ordering is down. You will also find that 754s seem to have also seemed to have bexome rather extinct lately.

Show me something that proves this. 939s were just discontinued and Vendors just sold out what they had left. I would like to see something that shows AMD had a recall on FX 60s.

It wasn't recalled. It was cancelled because the Conroe came out and slaughtered it.

Then again, considering the source, surely you can't be surprised that it's complete, total crap?

In the last 10 years at least, AMD has not recalled any processors except for two Opterons. I get news updates daily, and believe me if there was a recall I'd know about it. The guy is full of crap, as usual. I look forward to the day when everyone finally figures it out and just ignores him. Maybe he'll go away and stop trying to get the last word in every thread, making some attempt at "saving face" when his drivel is consistently proven wrong and consitently reminding us about his lame-o computer training 15 years ago or his tool and die experience (I'm still trying to figure out how that bears ANY relation to a computer forum, but I figure if I think about it long enough, maybe I'll eventually figure it out). lol :D

I finally got fed up with it and blocked him.. Doesn't help when people quote him though...although it gives me a reminder why I did in the first place....lest I forget.

It wasnt cancelled because on Conroe:D. But I will admit AMD lost alot of customers dropping 939 like they did when AM2 came out. After droping 939 when the Core 2 came out people that had a 939 that might have just upgraded there processor went to Intel because it was not worth upgrading to AM2 just for DDR2 support when you had to get a proceessor/CPU and Memory.
They should have released the AM2 with the same pin layout as 939 so the Socket was the same and had the AM2 memory controller support DDR and DDR2 so customers could have made up there own mind to upgrade there boards for DDR2 support. Then went to the AM2 pin layout with the K10. AMD needs new Management, they have made quite a few stupid mistakes that have cause alot of losses in sales that really the Core 2 wasnt even responsible for:confused:.

And no I,m not Surprised.
