After checking out Sis soft Sandra it appears the Athlon XP 3000+ is faster than the Athlon 64 3000+, but that doesn't seem right. Which one is faster/better?
Clock speed isnt the sole thing that makes a cpu fast, in the same way its not just wattage you need ot look for in a PSU. The Athlon 64 is newer, has 64bit technology, has a host of other features, and runs alot cooler.
yeah for now it's faster...but once everything is 64bit you won't be dissapointed. It's all personal preference, you could get the Athlon XP 3000+ now, then just upgrade to a higher 64 bit in the future when the prices drop.
thats exactly why the XP benchmarks faster, they increase cpu speed to makeup for the lack of FSB. of course, 64-bit would definitely be worth your while since its now '06 and the new windows vista will be out soon.
also go dual core if you can afford it!! i know im glad i did!! !!
