Athlon or pentium?

which would be the best one to go for i will be using the computer for games (online games like wow and reppelz) also surfing web and college work, dvd watching and playing music (the same thing most people do lol)

i was looking at a p4 deul core but i did see an athlon deul core 4200+ but i cant find anywhere that compares the two types of cpu's

if anyone can tell me or point me in the right direction of a web site that show all the p4 and athlon cpu's benchmarks etc that would be great.

If you're talking about Pentium vs. AMD, AMD is the clear winner. However, I would suggest you get a Core 2 Duo...about the same price as a dual core Athlon, and much better.

u mean a pentium d? an athlon is better but an intel core 2 duo is wayyyy better than both of them

The X2 is the better chip out of the two, but the best currently is the Core2 by Intel.
