Athlon X2 4400 or X2 4600

Hello,i'll be getting a new processor in the next few months and i was wondering what to go for?
The X2 4400+ 1mb L2 cache or the X2 4600+ 512kb L2 cache?
I've red all the similar posts about these two processors but i started this thread cause i'm using my PC mostly for CAD programs.I also like to play a good game once in a while but the most important thing for me would be 3D modelling in AutoCAD and rendering.So would i be better off with the 4400 or the 4600?
Basicly what i want to know is the L2 cache role in CAD programs and multitasking.

I had the 4600+ and upgraded to a 5200+. The 4600 is a nice processor but if you can afford the extra few bucks Id deffently look at the 5200+ processor. It has 1mb x 2 LS cache and runs really quick.
 
More cache = better performance upgrade than a few MHz.
Go for the 1MB cache.
Cache makes all the difference in the world.(G man reference?)

Oh and can't go for the 5200+. I have a socket 939.
I've always thought that more cache is better but this got me thinking:
"L2 cache is the most marketed cache and is big enough to actually influence the performance of the processor with budget processors cheaping out on the amount of L2 cache available. Although "the more L2 cache available, the better", also note that the more cache they cram onto a processor, the slower and less efficient it becomes and the more the cache becomes dependent on optimizations designed to improve cache hits"
When does this apply?

If you look at any benchmark, you will see that 4600+ beats 4400+

So, few MHz is better than more cache
 
Wow, read the thread ETSA. He said he has a 939 socket. If he said he can't go 5200+, obviously, he doesn't want to upgrade the other parts atm...
