does anyone know of any place in the uk, preferably online, where cheap amd athlon xp's are sold. the sites i normally get my computer stuff from dont sell them anymore.

PS if this is the wrong place then please move it, i was gonna put it in computer parts for sale, but then realised i wasnt selling anything

They are discontinued so you might have to get a sempron or change motherboard.

yea i know they're discontinued thats why i asked if anyone knew where to get them. semprons are crap for gaming, and i dont want to change motherboard for at least another year yet

But why change CPU?

The weak point in your system is the 5700, replace it with a better card and you'll run any game for some time ahead.

Considering I pretty sure almost all semprons(socket A) are remarked athlon xp then it follows that a athlon xp not going to perform any better in gaming then a sempron.

That's definitely true . I would get the Sempron 3000+ for socket A, beacuse it performs as well as an Athlon XP 2800+. You can always overclock these brothers well. However, I doubt that the change would bring significant performance boost. In fact as has been suggested you may want to change the graphics card for a more decent one.

Get rid of a the Athlon XP for a 64.

It is a 5,000 Difference in 3dmark..atleast...and I have published proof of this.

p.s when i say semprons arent good for gaming, i mean everything below 3000+ cuz they only have 256kb L2 cache, whilst nearly all athlon xp's ive seen have 512 standard. but anyway, RAM and gfx it is

i live in the UK and athlon64's arent cheap, and seeing as this has always been a budget computer, im not upgrading it that far yet. i wanna squeeze the life outta this one first

beccause newegg.com is almost half the price of things in UK, even on the cheaps websites, so id be willing to pay a bit for international shipping
