Hi

I,ve just built a new rig for photo editing and gaming. Now that it is all up and running with no problems I want to try some overclocking with my CPU. I,m almost completely new to overcloking and would be appriciate if someone could give me some advice on overclocking my chip (3000+). At the mo my cpu is at about 27 degrees idle not sure what the load temp is and has a stock Heatsink and fan. Any ideas as to where I start.

Amd 3000+ venice
DFI NF4 Infinity (Good overclocker apparently)
1024 ddr 400 cl3 ram (crucial) 2x512mb
250GB 8mb cache Seagate Sata HDD
Leadtek 6600GT extreme edition
550w power supply

Thanks for any help

Thanks for reply. Iv,e read a lot of overclocking 101, however can anyone provide more detailed info on my setup.

In my Genie bios section I have these options

Cpu frequency 200
Hammer fid control Auto (What)
HT frequency Auto
HT width 16/16 (What the hell)
Dram configeration
PCIE speed 100
Cpu voltage
Chip voltage
DDR voltage

Where do I start?

For starters, you just raise the "cpu frequency", in increments of 5 or so, until it becomes unstable. Then decrease it a few increments until it's stable again.

Once it becomes unstable, you should set the HT Frequency to 4x, and set the DRAM Config to DDR333.

Then when that becomes unstable, raise the CPU voltage very slightly.
