im looking to get a 2900 hd Do i need both of the power connectors plugged in or just 1 :confused: urm i know i need a new psu but does it need to have the two power connectors??

it is required, card is hungry. it requires a 6pin and a 8pin so make sure your psu has those or make sure the maker of your card comes with converters.
 
Yes you need the 8-pin and the 6-pin connected. I had to find a power supply that had one, since it's a really power hungry card.
 
More like all the time - dont you have a sli 8800 computer aswell? And btw what overclock is your Q6600 as my friend is about to get one and wants to know what he can excpect
 
i need to get another 750 quad for the 8800 sli since i borrorwed it for the crossfire setup. the q6600 is at 3600 with a b3 on air right now. g0 should be able to push it higher say maybe around 4ghz or higher. i need to get new water tubes in the meantime.

Are you serious? lol

The HD2900XT is much, much better then the x1950XTX.
 
Actually, for a single card build, you only need two 6-pins. The 8-pin is "backwards compatible", but that's only if you're running a single build. For Crossfire, you need two 6-pins and two 8-pins. (Or I may be mistaken about the Crossfire thing. Check your manual!)
